Sis. Chelsea Braggs
Recipient of the Girl Scouts Gold Award

Sis. Chelsea Braggs, daughter of Cliff & Trenda Braggs, is a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award.   The Gold Award is the highest honor award that a Girl Scout age 14-18 may earn.  The leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold" set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship. This award represents honor, honesty, hard-work, trustworthiness, responsibility and time management. All the skills needed for success in the real world.

Sis. Chelsea has been involved in Girl Scouts for 12 years.  She started as a Daisy at the tender age of 6 and moved up the ranks with the love and support of her parents.  She will be receiving the Gold Award, signed by Barack Obama, June 2010 in Austin, TX at a ceremony to honor all those that have completed the Gold Award service project.

The Gold Award consists of a service project that fulfills a need within a girl's community, creates change and empowers others.  Sis. Chelsea created the Newborns in Need service project that raises awareness of families in need of baby clothing for newborn children. She presented her project to WBC and together collected over 280 pieces of baby clothing, hats, blankets and booties for newborns at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Sis. Chelsea was inspired to continue with Girl Scouts during her teen years by various activities and exposure to positive images.  Sis. Chelsea had an opportunity to visit a child advocacy center with the Girl Scouts where she found her calling and purpose in life: to help others. She is currently a freshman at Oklahoma University working toward becoming a social worker; dedicated to help others in need and to inspire other children to succeed in Girl Scouts. She is a very bright and talented young lady whom God is using to inspire others. Sis. Chelsea we are proud of you!!!

Girl Scouts is an organization dedicated, solely to girls, to build character and skills for success in the real world. WBC Girl Scout Ministry was created a few years ago and continues to accept applications for those interested.  Please contact Minister Rosalind Spencer if you are interested in this ministry.
