Thankful for Discipleship Classes
October 2009
Good morning WCBG,
On the morning of October 6, I woke up at 4:57am. As I laid back down, the Lord placed this overwhelming feeling in my spirit. I tossed and turned, and I could not go back to sleep. The Lord revealed to me that I did not share, last night in class, the reason why I put on the whole Armor of God that morning. That morning I arose giving thanks to the Lord for waking me up and allowing me to see another day. I got on my knees to give thanks for what He has done, is doing, and will do in my life. As well as what He is doing those around me. During my devotion time that morning, I read the daily bread, WBC pastor's shield, scripture review, daily calendar prayer for the youth and children, and the 40 days of Consecration for that day.
After my son left for school I spent time in the Word. Then I listened to the Hezekiah Walker CD - "Souled Out". Every song on the CD ministered to me as I reflected how God has blessed me. I then read my lesson text, Matthew 14:22-33, for the discipleship training class, Fearless, starting this week.
I count it a blessing to be able to reflect on God's awesome power. I was laid off on May 31, 2009 and currently waiting for God to send my next job opportunity. Now mind you, when I was working I would get up 15-20 minutes early every morning to pray and have my devotion time before I prepared for work. But I would often miss the time to read and meditate on the Word. Even after I returned home from work, I would be too busy. When I did finally sit down to read, I would fall asleep.
I enjoyed the Armor of God class last night and one of the things that really stuck with me was what Sis. Blake said about our initial reactions/responses when something happens:

Before I moved to Texas, my home church, offered discipleship training classes but there was a charge anywhere from $50.00 and up. I could not afford the classes so I often thought to
myself how I wanted to attend the classes if only they were lower in price. I was so excited that God led me to Westside, where one of the many opportunities was FREE discipleship training classes. So every time there is a class offered I try to make myself available to attend and learn even more about our savior Jesus.
